Like leopard accents, military-inspired garb, and diaphanous button-ups, when it comes to Sienna Miller, what began as a style crush has blossomed into what we can only deem a life-long sartorial love affair. Logging countless appearances in What Was She Wearing: Answers!, Trend Reports and now making a comeback appearance in today's What Would She Wear story, Miller's unique blend of upscale gypset style and boho chic aesthetics never fails to intrigue us—and you! Her knack for balancing of-the-moment pieces, such as a mini-romper or lace-up brogues, with denim staples and signature handbags is unparalleled. Additionally, her spot-on ensembles always populate our inspiration boards and never fail to aid us in addressing a myriad of style situations, from a day of running errands to music-festival wear. And, of course, any homage to this fashionable icon would not be complete without referencing her flawless red-carpet looks! Whether she's opting for a floor-length feathered frock or pairing a directional mini with opaque tights, Miller's after-hours outfits are always playful and glamorous, leaving us dying to recreate her fancy fare.
While Miller has repeatedly wowed us with every fashionable step she takes, she has also snagged—and held—our attention with her contemporary clothing line, Twenty8Twelve. The excitingly wearable collection is the brainchild of Miller and her sister Savannah, and this fall it's filled with must-have pieces like a draped gold velvet dress, acid-splat jeans, and a brightly colored hippie-worthy sweatercoat. What we love about these pieces—aside from their street chic appeal—is that they are so reflective of Miller's personal sartorial sense, she often incorporates them into her own everyday wear!
Thus, in order to honor Miller's personal panache, we chose a few inspired pieces in order to help you recreate her lusted-after style. Just like her featured ensemble today—which is comprised of 7 for All Mankind's Gummy Gwenevere Clean Pocket Jeans ($178) in Blue Mineral Wash, Nicholas Kirkwood's Suede/Patent Oxfords ($743), Ray-Ban's Small Metal Aviators ($89) and Louis Vuitton's Sofia Coppola Suede Asphalt Bag ($3730)—these well-edited items display her ever-fresh mix of emerging trends and unfussy basics. And now, without further ado, peruse our picks at your leisure so you can snag some of Sienna Miller's style-setting prowess in today's installment of What Would She Wear.
1. Oliver Peoples Riley-R Flip-Up Clip-On Sunglasses($450, 310.657.2553)
Miller is never without a great pair of sunnies and Oliver Peoples' current collection offers a bevy of chic shades we know she'd love. While it was hard to narrow it down—particularly after spotting one of our other favorite trendsetters, Dree Hemingway, in the Sheldrake Flip-up Clip-Ups—we felt the Riley sunglasses were most suited to Miller's bohemian-sophisticate style. The amber sheer frame is ideal to highlight her coloring, while the flip-up option honors her insouciant sartorial flair!
2. Tarte Ten Natural Cheek Stain ($30)
Miller tends to keep her beauty look fairly natural for day, and often only opts for drama in the form of a smoky-eye for evening. Thus we thought a natural cheek stain would be apt for recreating her fresh-faced flush. We particularly like Tarte's version because the bright pink shade is flattering on all skin tones and it's completely paraben and sulfate free, so it won't irritate anyone's skin. And—to celebrate its tenth anniversary—this natural stain comes in a fun gold-studded tube that's both festive and easy to pop in your handbag or clutch!
3. Dara Ettinger Angelica Knuckle Ring($120)
Since Miller often opts for one-of-a-kind baubles she picks up on her peripatetic travels, we thought this moonstone-like ring would speak to her penchant for "found" things. The twisted shape makes it unique and eye-catching enough to stand on its own, while the shimmery pink stone is mesmerizing and just plain ol' pretty! Use it to add intrigue to your everyday basics or pair it with some leather shorts and a colorful sweatercoat (like Twenty8Twelve's Gerlinde ($420) version) for a cutting-edge off-duty ensemble.
4. H&M Leopard Print Booties ($34.95)
By now you're well aware that animal accents are one of our favorite fall trends; between Mulberry's Neely Bag ($2650), Dries Van Noten's luscious scarves, and Balmain's panther suede boots we just can't get enough! Accordingly, we selected these adorable H&M lace-up ankle boots for today's story. Not only are they an ideal—and affordable—way to incorporate this feline frenzy into your wardrobe, they're also Miller-apropos as she often opts for flat footwear to run around town. We know she'd use them to accent one of her favorite pairs of Twenty8Twelve jeans or cutoffs for a dynamic off-duty look.
5. ASOS Suede Mini Skirt ($51) in Khaki
This khaki suede mini skirt is a perfect example of the sort of elevated basic we know Miller goes mad for. The olive green hue is right on trend with the fashion world's ongoing fancy with army-inspired pieces, while the luxe material provides just the right touch of textural intrigue. Pair it with some leopard print wedge booties or a platform clog boot for a directional daytime look.
6. Wendy Nichol Lighter Necklace ($188)
This little leather pouch looks precisely like the sort of unique trinket Miller would be drawn to. We love the delicate gold beading and could see her using this to add free-spirited flair to a classic outfit, like her featured pic today, or as the finishing touch on a music festival ensemble.
7. BCBGeneration Kora Handbag ($118)
While every so often, Miller mixes it up with a bright boho sack or a textured clutch, she typically keeps it simple and polished with a leather carryall (such as Prada's Saffiano & Tessuto Tote ($1550) which we've seen her sling over her shoulder on many occasions). Accordingly, we think she'd love BCBGeneration's Kora Handbag ($118). It's not quite as structured as some of the other ladylike bags we've previously highlighted and been eyeing for fall, but this long-strap satchel lends itself well to Miller's inherent world-traveler aura.
8. Madewell Borrowed-From-the-Boys Shimmer Blazer ($178)
One of the things we love about this bohemian beauty is how she often takes an essential item and imbues it with a bit of edge. That being said, we thought she'd go ga-ga for Madewell's double-breasted jacket. The boyfriend shape is a modern classic, while the slight charcoal-hued shimmer distinguishes it from the pack. We could see her styling it with a bright-red mini dress, opaque tights and black heels to create her signature cocktail look.
9. Isabel Marant Dice Chambray Shirt ($360)
We love how Isabel Marant has taken the chambray shirt and given it a subtle update by offering it in this pale gray hue and incorporating the military trend with oversized front pockets. These two tweaks add up to one highly covetable button-down for fall. While the Gallic sartorial savant styled it with a draped lamé mini and bow-bedecked heels on her F/W 10 runway, we could see Miller pairing it with Twenty8Twelve's Sienna Jeans ($240) for an equally chic snapshot-worthy look.
